Course Description
The technology applications curriculum has six strands
Creativity and innovation
Communication and collaboration
Research and information fluency
Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making
Digital citizenship; and
Technology operations and concepts
Through the study of technology applications students will learn and reinforce their key-boarding skills while building speed. Students will make informed decisions by understanding current and emerging technologies, including technology systems; appropriate digital tools, and personal learning networks. As competent researchers and responsible digital citizens, students use creative and computational thinking to solve problems while developing career and college readiness skills.

Course Requirements:
Students are required to follow all classroom rules, computer rules, procedures, and abide by the Student Code of Conduct. Students must participate in warm-ups, complete assigned documents, improve keyboarding skills and pass Major Grade assignments.
Absences:
If a student is absent, it is their responsibility to make an appointment with me to discuss any material missed and schedule a time to make up work.
Required Materials:
All students are required to purchase the following items:
1 pocket folder with brads
Headphones
1 hand sanitizer
1 package of copy paper
Tutorials:
Tutorials will be available mornings from 8:00 am – 8:30 am and afterschool from 3:45 pm – 4:15 pm.
Tutorials are available in Labs: 223, 209, and 115
Grading of students work shall be authentic. Grades will reflect a student’s relative mastery of the assigned material. Students may earn from 0 to 100 points per grade and NO minimum grade shall be assigned. Conversely, no maximum grade shall be limited to less than 100 possible points. A minimum number of 8 minor grades counting 35% of the student’s final grade and 3 major grades counting 65% of the final grade will be taken each six weeks.
Make up Missed Work after Any Absence:
Students who have been absent for any reason are encouraged to make up assignments and tests they missed within a reasonable time designated by the teacher. Failure to make up assignments and tests may result in academic penalties.
For any class missed, the teacher may assign the student make-up work based on the instructional objectives for the subject or course and the needs of the individual student in mastering the essential knowledge and skills, or in meeting subject or course requirements.
The teacher may assign additional/alternative work to ensure students who have been absent have sufficient opportunity to master the essential knowledge and skills or to meet subject or course requirements. Different tests may be administered to students who miss the regularly scheduled tests.
Students who have been absent for any reason are responsible to make up the work they missed. Failure to make up work may result in academic penalties.
All work missed shall receive AT LEAST one day of make-up time for each day of absence.
Example: 1 day absence - 1 day following return to school
2 day absence - 2 days after return to school
Late work:
Different from missed work, which is usually due to an illness, late work is often due to irresponsibility of forgetfulness. As such, we will only allow one day for a student to submit late assignment.
