About Mr. Castillo

I graduated from Edcouch-Elsa High School (Texas) in 1989 as class salutatorian.  Having excelled in cross-country & track, I was awarded an athletic scholarship to The University of Texas at San Antonio.  Earning my degree in business, I set out as a retail store manager for a small family business in San Antonio & Houston.  Upon moving to Corpus Christi in 1997 with my wife, I decided to obtain my teaching certificate and bring my knowledge of business into the math classroom.  I proceeded to coach track at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with my former college coach for a few years before getting back into the classroom.  I am currently in my 20th year as an educator (14th at T-M) and truly enjoy my job.  Every day is different and challenging.

My wife & I have 3 children...2 boys and a girl.  My kids attend or attended T-M and love spending time with me at the track.  My wife is a physical therapist and has been practicing in town for over 18 years.

I still run a bit (though, a bit slower nowadays) and enjoy sports, the outdoors, and photography.  So, if you see me out running one day with the team, make sure to honk & yell "hi".  Better yet, come on out & join us.
