My Name is Vivian Armstrong. I am a PTCB certified Pharmacy Technician, registered in the State of Texas. I have over 20 years of pharmacy technician experience, primarily in the hospital setting. I am also certified as an instructor for American Red Cross and American Heart Association. My teaching certificates are in Health Science Technology 8-12, Life Science 8-12, and Agriculture Science 8-12. In addition to studying for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam, Tuloso Midway pharmacy technician trainees will take the Sterile Compounding Aseptic Technique course through Austin Community College Eastview.
As a Health Science Technology Educator, I am also a HOSA advisor. Tuloso Midway High School now has an active HOSA future health Professionals chapter. Check out our photo album to see some activities our members have participated in (including competition). The health science student benefits from joining this national student organization.
My pharmacy technician work experience originated from Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi Memorial Main Pharmacy Department, Hospital Pharmacies Incorporated, and P & S Hospital ( Corpus Christi). In addition to regular pharmacy technician duties at Memorial, I had responsibility for the supervision/mentoring of the Moody Health Science Academy students and Robstown High school health students as they experienced clinical rotations through the pharmacy department. I was often designated to execute projects within our department and nursing stations in our hospital. I prepared non sterile and sterile compounds, such as intravenous solutions and oral/external preparations. Additional work experience I bring is from employment at HPI(Hospital Pharmacy Incorporated). I worked as a traveling team member to set up pharmacy departments with contracted hospitals.
Pharmacy technicians are evolving into an important component of health care from the field of pharmacy. I enjoy teaching students as they explore their interests in becoming a health care professional. As the introduction of American Society of Health system Pharmacists review of programs training pharmacy technicians help raise the recognition of this as a career, you will see our students working clinical rotations at various sites throughout the city of Corpus Christi.
The Pharmacy Club Honor Society is for students taking the Pharmacy Technician course. They will examine student professional organizations at the university level and visit the Irma Rangel School of Pharmacy in Kingsville and one of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy business meetings . Look in the future for a photo album. To reach me at the high school, use extension 3163.
